Dr. Rainer Deutschmann

Dr. Rainer Deutschmann has been Senior Vice President Mobile Products at Deutsche Telekom AG since July 2009. In this role he is overall responsible for mobile products in Europe, which include personal communication products such as voice and messaging, and mobile internet products such handset and laptop surfing, search/advertising, mobile music and mobile video/TV. Additionally, he leads Deutsche Telekom’s strategic Internet&Software Partnerships, Business Development, and Deutsche Telekom’s M2M (machine-to-machine communication) competence center. Rainer reports directly into the Executive Operating Board of Deutsche Telekom, and is part of the international Products & Innovation and Marketing Leadership teams. From May 2007 until June 2009, as Senior Vice President Mobile Internet, he was responsible for Mobile Internet and Multimedia products in T-Mobile’s European markets. From October 2005 until April 2007 Rainer led Deutsche Telekom’s Corporate Strategy Development as a Vice President, overseeing DT’s fixed line, wireless, and business customer strategic business areas – T-Home, T-Mobile, and T-Systems. In this role he was instrumental to setting up DT’s current strategy “Focus, fix, and grow”. Prior to DT he was five years with McKinsey&Company, Inc., working for leading telecommunications, IT and high-tech players. Previously, he was a computation and neuroscience researcher at California Institute of Technology, and holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Technology Munich.
