Background
The 27th MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN will take place from 16th to 18th October 2013 at the International Congress Centre Munich (ICM) next to the Messe München exhibition grounds. The media conference was initiated in 1987 to convey the perspectives of the then young private broadcasting industry and the potentials of cable networks in Germany to an expert audience.
Since its start MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN has continuously developed.
With MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN a platform was created in order to encourage the discussion about relevant media specific topics. The wide range of issues extends from current media political aspects via advertising, marketing, new categories and questions of programme quality to the protection of minors. With this three-day industry highlight the rise of the media center of Bavaria was accompanied. From 1987 to 1998 the congress was organised by Münchner Gesellschaft für Kabelkommunikation (MGK).
Medientage München GmbH (formerly known as DVB Multimedia Bayern GmbH) has been organising MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN since 1999. From that time on, the exhibition running parallel to the conference and featuring more than 60 exhibitors has become an integral part of MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN, which take place annually in autumn. What began as a platform for the pioneers of private broadcasting has evolved into one of Europe's major trade meeting of its kind over the past few years. Today, with around 6,000 attendees from Germany and abroad, several hundred registered journalists, around 500 speakers, and about 90 discussion panels, MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN ranks among the decisive events for the world of media and communication.
Leading media managers and specialists analyse future trends in the media sector at MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN. Here is where experts in the fields of TV, radio, print, mobile communication, internet, multimedia, advertising as well as politicians and people working in the film industry come together. The Media Summit is both the traditional kick-off and the key element of MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN, to which the key players of the German media sector are invited. Together with the other summits this top-level forum has become one of Europe's most significant media expert panels of the year. The society highlight of the three-day media event is "Nacht der Medien", MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN's splendid get together.
MEDIENTAGE MÜNCHEN is organised by Medientage München GmbH and supported by the Bavarian State Chancellery and the Bavarian Office for Licensing and Controlling Private Broadcasters (Bayerische Landeszentrale für neue Medien, BLM).
